The Crossvines is a celebration of local viticulture. Experience every stage of winemaking on our beautiful grounds, from growing grapevines, to crushing grapes, to bottling the wine, to tasting the final product.
The Crossvines Wine Production Facility is a state of the art, large scale operation designed to accommodate a multitude of wine styles and a wide range of production quantities. Through our investments in the latest in winemaking equipment and customized fermentation vessels, to our temperature controlled environments for the aging and storing of wine, we are truly a one size fits all program that provides local winegrowers and winemakers with ample opportunities to create wines according to their own vision. Those who take part in our winemaking program become Alternating proprietors, so they can make use of our facility and count on us to ensure that they are provided with the infrastructure and guidance needed to create a quality portfolio of wines each and every vintage.
With four planted acres and more coming down the road, the research vineyard at the Crossvines is at the intersection of Educational Research and productive agriculture. The University of Maryland Extension, in coordination with our vineyard management, planned and coordinated the research and development of this demonstration vineyard. Interplanted with a multitude of combinations of varietals, scions and rootstocks, this setup provides us with a diverse mix of wine grapes to be used in future bottlings, while also serving as a bellwether for those in our region who wish to plant their own vineyards in the future.
The winery at The Crossvines will take advantage of the incredible local winemaking industry and connect guests with a variety of local wines to taste and experience. Visitors can spend a day or weekend picnicking amidst the winery grounds, tasting local wines, enjoying vineyard views, and exploring the gardens.
